Round-table Meeting

The Nigerian Business Coalition Against AIDS (NiBUCAA) held her first Round-Table meeting at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday June 29, 2016. The meeting was attended by members and non-members and partners which include UNICEF, UNAIDS and Lagos State Agency for the Control of AIDS (LSACA).

The theme for the meeting was Basic Nutrition: Tips for Healthy living one of the pillars of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations. Forty-five (45) participants attended the event. Also in attendance is NiBUCAA co-Chair Dr. Pascal Dozie (CON) and Dr. Gertrude Bassey representing NNPC and also the Acting chairman Executive Committee of the coalition was present at the meeting.

Project Launch

The 10^th phase of Total Group project on Community HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria (ATM) tagged ‘’Drive-on’’ took place at Asaba, Delta state  from July 12-22, 2016 with technical support from NiBUCAA.

The project has two components namely; training of the Peer Educators (PEs) who were staff of Total Nigeria PLC and Provision of HIV Testing Services (HTS) for the entire populace of Delta state. 23 PEs were trained and voluntary HTS were provided for 3,389 persons (2,006 males and 1,383 females) within the age range of 3-79 years.

The project was official launched at TOTAL Service Station, Bridge head 1, Asaba,  Delta State by the Secretary to the Delta state Government Hon. Festus Ovie-Agas. Other notable dignitaries’ present include; The Asagba of Asaba, Prof. J. C. Edozien CFR, represented by Obi Benebe Ugoko, Honourable Commissioner for Health, represented by Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health Dr. E. S. Otobo, officials of Total Exploration & Production, Total Nigeria Plc, and other notable individuals graced the occasion.
